SWAY, 2025

Live performance. Ca. 12 min. Performed 3 times as part of the 13th Seoul MediaCity Biennial 2025 in the lobby and courtyard of Seoul Museum of Art.

In Sway, a group of dokkaebi appear. In a polarized world where the rigidity of borders seem to reign, dokkaebi are manifestations a different ethos. Liminal beings and nature deities at the threshold of realms, they are in possession of extraordinary powers and can traverse times and spaces. They move with the forces of nature; the rain, the fog, the wind, and are able to assume any gender, size, and form. It is said that they multiply when they disperse and that humans need to appease them for good fortune and to drive away evil spirits.
