AMNESIA RITUAL FOR TRANS-BORN

Video-integrated performance, 2006.

As much as transnational adoption has be regarded as a humanitarian act and as a form of state regulated population control, the practice also raises questions of structural power imbalances and forced migration. The performance engages individual and collective amnesia and trauma and re-interprets notions of race, gender, and culture through acts of dissimilation and metamorphosis by a cyborg-angel figure.
